On the afternoon of June 14, our court held the first “Justice•Trial Cases” seminar and signing ceremony of “Cooperation Agreement on Strengthening Research on the Application of Judicial Cases”. It was attended by Guo Weiqing, Secretary of Party Leadership Group and President of Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court, Professor Ye Bifeng, Institute of Law, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Yin Yonglei, Director of the Civil Division of the Shanghai High People’s Court, Professor Wang Zhiqiang, Dean of Fudan University Law School, Professor Song Xiaoyan, Dean of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Professor Qian Yulin, Associate Dean of School of Economics and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law. At the meeting, our court signed “Cooperation Agreement on Strengthening Research on the Application of Judicial Cases” with the four law schools. President Guo Weiqing, Director Ye Bifeng, Dean Wang Zhiqiang, Dean Song Xiaoyan and Associate Dean Qian Yulin delivered speeches. President Guo discussed how to strengthen the application of judicial cases and promote the integration of theories and practice between the court and law schools. He shared three observations: the first is to deepen understanding to realize the significance of research on the application of judicial cases. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee clearly stated that it is imperative to strengthen and standardize case guidance and unify applicable standards of law. A complete case production, research, communication and application mechanism is conducive to unifying adjudication criterion, improving the judicial ability and level, strengthening the exchanges and interactions between judicial practice and legal education and research, and promoting vigorous development of legal theory. The second is to carry forward traditions and give full play to the first-mover advantage of research on the application of judicial cases. The two sides will work together to integrate the resources of theory and practice, improve the application methods of judicial cases, deeply explore the legal principles and adjudication rules behind the cases, and achieve widely applicable results with high academic attainment in case study. The third is to strengthen cooperation and promote the innovative development of research on the application of judicial cases. The two sides will jointly focus on judicial cases, highlight applied research, strive to provide down-to-earth and typical judicial cases for legal education, offer practical and useful research results for court trials, and facilitate the integrated development of legal education & research and application of judicial cases.
